Benicio Del Toro to play The Collector?

According to Comic Book Movie, actor Benicio Del Toro will be playing none other than The Collector. We had heard a while back that The Collector would be playing a role in the Guardians of the Galaxy film when Ophelia Lovibond was cast as "an aide to the collector". Del Toro was widely suspected to play Thanos in the film, and while this could still be a possibility, Comic Book Movie's "very reliable source" says different.

In the comics, The Collector "collects" (surprising, huh?) different alien species in order to repopulate the universe in case it gets destroyed. Sounds like a pretty interesting storyline. Imagine The Collector trying to capture Rocket Raccoon. I don't think Rocket would like that too much.
