- Karen Gillan, who is playing Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy, has apparently finished filming her role. On her Twitter, she tweeted, "And that's a wrap on Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy!!" In response to Gillan's tweet, director James Gunn commented on the contrast between Karen Gillan and her onscreen persona Nebula. His tweet read, "Clint Eastwood onscreen, Hello Kitty off: You will be missed!"
- Brian Michael Bendis, on the other hand, is not leaving the Guardians world anytime soon. On his Tumblr, the writer was asked how much longer he will be writing for Guardians of the Galaxy. In response he said, "No end in sight. I am having a blast and it’s doing very well thanks to you all."
- In older news, Glenn Howerton (Dennis from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia), recently spoke to Zap2it, saying, "I did audition recently for 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' to play the role Chris Pratt is playing. And I know the director of that movie is supposedly a big 'Sunny' fan, which is cool."
Nothing too major here, but it sounds like we are in for a treat with Karen Gillan's role in Guardians of the Galaxy. It sounds like fans of her character from Doctor Who, Amy Pond, will be surprised at her ability to play a tough role. How excited are you to see Nebula? Drop a comment below.

Not sure how the comic industry works exactly so I don't know how much Bendis had a say in it but even the visual design of the team is just horrible. When DnA was around, we had uniforms with unorthodox and simplistic design that really gave off an unique feel. You'd recognize the origin of those uniforms instantly when you saw them without a character in it.
DeleteNow it's just an overstylized mess like all the other common sci-fi comics, movies and illustrations show off.
It just feels that the comic was revived just to milk some money with the movie coming out and everything which is sad. Maybe the old Guardians weren't that popular and maybe they needed a new direction in order to become worthwhile but this is just a big insult to everything that Guardians were.
Uhg, you know. I'm NOT a Benids Hater. I enjoyed a lot of his Avengers stuff, and his X-men are pretty decent. But DEAR LORD does he NOT know how to right a cosmic book.
ReplyDeleteHis approach is too "everyman". The Guardians were anything BUT the everyman.
They dealt with truly universe spanning issues, not sitting at space bars acting like an Avengers Street team. The success this title has at the moment is NOT due to it's quality that's for sure.
