UPDATE: According to a vague tweet from hair and makeup stylist, Lizzie Georgiou, Chris Pratt and Michael Rooker are seemingly filming new scenes as well.
Earlier today, director James Gunn confirmed on his Twitter that additional filming for Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy has begun at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA. In his tweet, Gunn simply stated, "Disney lot, additional shooting, early as hell." with a picture of the WDS lot (pictured to the left).

John C. Reilly (who plays Nova Corps Officer, Rhomann Dey) is among the cast members confirmed for the shoot. He was reportedly seen at the studio, yesterday, by Joe Hennes, who posted on Twitter, "Visiting the Disney lot, just met John C. Reilly while filming Guardians
of the Galaxy!! He just came right up to us and said hi. So cool." This means that the additional scenes being filmed involve the Nova Corps in some capacity. Could they possibly introduce Richard Rider, the character known as 'NOVA'? There's also a possibility that Marvel is shooting scenes featuring Thanos. Only time will tell!
We'll see what else we can dig up about the shoot, so stay tuned for more info as it comes!
You guys don't miss a thing. Love the site, long time lurker.
ReplyDeleteThanks! We try!
Deleteyou might want to follow Lizzie if you don't already...you would have caught this 2 days sooner :) She did makeup work for GOTG https://twitter.com/LizzieYG/statuses/443490661275541504
DeleteI wonder who else is filming there right now. That might give us an idea on what scenes are being filmed.
ReplyDeleteWe'll update when we find out.
DeleteRooker and Pratt are there so there's Yondu and Quill. I doubt it's anything post-credit related but just additional filming needed for the film itself.
DeleteAh! I bet is the post credits scene that shows Rhomann going to Earth to give Richard the Nova Force.
ReplyDeleteWould be nice!
DeleteYes, a scene mentioning, perhaps even actually featuring Richard Rider would be pretty stellar! Some way or another, Rider would be empowered with the Nova Force, if Nova will indeed be apart of the next phase in the MCU. Gunn already confirmed that the "Black Novas" will not be making an appearance, neither Bendis' or Loeb's work on GOTG and "Nova" have been an influence for the film, and DnA's work on both previous titles were praised and heavily inspired the work on the film. Definitely, if GOTG is a blockbuster hit sensation, there is going to be strong interest in Richard Rider, not Sam Alexander. Hopefully, it'll pave the way for Wendell Vaughn aka Quasar and Beta Ray Bill! I hope Bug and Mantis make it to the GOTG roster in the near future. Liam Helmsworth, Chris Helmsworth's younger brother, as Richard Rider would be ideal!
DeleteIt could be the cameo of Stan Lee as a Nova Corps officer talking to Groot with Vin Diesel portraying Groot in his mo-cap suit or it could be the scenes with Thanos if Marvel has found their new actor to play Thanos. Or it could be both.
ReplyDeleteStan's not doing a cameo. He didn't create them and explained last year that he wasn't doing it.
DeleteI like your ideas Al. I'm hoping since Stan came out with that interview, Marvel saw the reaction people had and found a spot for him in the movie.
DeleteStan Lee did create Groot and Ronan and there have been plenty of rumors that Stan Lee will appear in the re-shoot so I think it's possible! 8D
DeleteI would still welcome a Stan Lee cameo. I like the idea of a Nova Corps officer, but retired.
DeleteIts gotta be a Post Credit Scenes, They usually film those on the last minute.
ReplyDeleteTrue. What do you think the post credit scene will be?
DeleteWell, Maybe something that will lead to Age of Ultron since that's the movie that comes after it.
DeleteYes, more than likely it is the Post Credit Scene(s). I recently read a rumor of Richard Rider possibly having a cameo for Avengers:AU. Could be just wishful thinking since there will be a Marvel Legends/Build-A-Figure action figure of Richard Rider as Nova Prime for the GOTG toy line. Yeah, marketing does that with toys but you never know when it comes to "product placement" and the public garnering interest and curiosity. But with the Nova Corps, most notably John C Reilly, being filmed in the pick-up shots it could very well lead up to the Avengers sequel. The Thanos threat is slowly building up. The GOTG and the Avengers will need help dealing with Thanos and I believe the experimental Nova Force, of last resort, will be transferred onto someone that will help even out the odds.
DeleteChris Pratt is likely to do a reshoot/extra scene.
ReplyDeletePlus Karen Gillan said she probably could an extra scene, and if that's the case, she's hoping to do a scene with a bald cap, given that her hair is quite short, but IF she has to, she wouldn't object to another shave.
No clue what the extra footage is, but this'll be fun.
I can't imagine she would want to shave her head again.
Deletemy $ says post credit scene. those are quite normally shot last and not far from release date. we'll see
