New Batch Of Fresh GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Plot Points From Entertainment Weekly

Director James Gunn recently talked to Entertainment Weekly about Guardians of the Galaxy, revealing new information and plot points that we hadn't heard yet. Check out the quotes below!

On Peter Quill (Starlord): "He was abducted from Earth (specifically, Missouri) at age 8 and "raised in a group of thieves and smugglers called the Ravagers. He's good with the ladies and a little bit of a d*ck and very lucky."

On Gamora: "Thanos slaughtered her family and Nebula's, then raised them together as siblings. They were bio engineered to become living weapons. So she's really good at killing people."

On Drax: "Drax is a little mysterious in the movie. But we do know that his wife and child were killed by Ronan and he's very singularly focused on revenge."

On Groot: "He's very innocent. He just wants to be liked by Rocket and do the right thing."

On Rocket Raccoon: "A talking, gun-toting raccoon-like creature-and another product of bioengineering. For me, it's not Bugs Bunny in the middle of the Avengers. It's this little gnarled, creepy beast who is very sad and alone."

The article also revealed that Thanos will be "motion capture" and that Guardians will "definitely be connected to Avengers 3". Don't know about you guys, but these quotes are getting me pumped! Drop us a comment below and let us know what you think!

  1. Every little thing about this film coming out makes me even MORE excited. I'm going to watch one more trailer (the next one involving the plot) and then I'm cutting myself off. At least gonna try and do it.

    1. I know right! I was hoping for a fun 80s scene in Golden, CO.

  3. Nebula is Zorr the Annihilator's daughter in the comics, so what does that mean? They won't be related in this continuity or did Thanos kill Zorr which I doubt since he's Nova's Arch enemy.

  4. Yeah, I kinda figured they'd change Drax's past to fit within their movie better, and have Ronan be the one that killed his family. Wouldn't be surprised if they made him an actual alien too. Not what I want, just what I expect.

  5. So I'm guessing that means we won't be getting Moondragon in this continuity :-( Still hopeful tho that Phyla-Vell joins the team in number 2 even tho she should be in this one.

I'm guessing after this movie will never see Master of Sun or Ship in any continuity including cartoons and even the 616 continuity ever again. :-(

    1. You have to remember that Drax thought Heather was dead until he met Moondragon. So if he told everyone she was dead then everyone thinks she's dead. Cue epic reveal.

  6. It would be annoying if Drax is an actual alien or Moondragon is not going to be in the movies. Also, i'm okay with Starlord being a smuggler instead of a space cop.

    1. I think they'll probably keep Drax's past a mystery until the second movie, where they introduce Moondragon. That's just a guess.

  7. Makes sense to change up Drax and Starlord cause thier histories are a bit out there and require a big backstory. I like what they are doing with Quill. Hell, im just happy weget that awesome helmet/mask.

    2. Nah...Drax is made to kill Thanos. I think him being able to sense him would be good twist.

  8. I hope the movie explain's Starlord's alien half. they say he was abducted when he was 8 years old. But that's assuming that some aliens came to earth searching for him, Because hes the offspring of an alien.

  9. after some initial angst, I guess having Drax pursuing Ronan is close enough and adds to the movie's narrative. all this time, I have been telling myself that I did not mind the shift in Marvel comics vs. movies. "after all, who wants to see the same story just revealed on the big screen. the shifts keep things fresh for the comic savant..."[my head]...I thought I believed it. This challenged me, but it's a vague backstory...right?[pleadingly]

  10. Yeah, they're going to change some stuff. But as long as the changes are still true to the core spirit of DnA's Guardians (which they seem to be) I think its just fine.

  11. Based on the (altered) backstory of Nebula, she'll probably be the villain you'll root for. Plus, if she plays a role in the Infinity Gauntlet movie, she may be (to be put in D&D terms) Chaotic Neutral, or Neutral Evil; something to make the Avengers rather wary.

    Missouri instead of Colorado? Okay.

  12. Lol Missouri, represent! Remember, Gunn is from St.Louis. Quill's father is royalty.
