UPDATED: The GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Get Animated (Again) On AVENGERS ASSEMBLE This Sunday

UPDATE: We now have our first image and two clips from the episode, courtesy of EW and IGN.

We've only seen the Guardians of the Galaxy in animated form twice now, first on Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and then on Ultimate Spider-Man. Now the Guardians will be appearing on the Disney XD show, Avengers Assemble. The episode is entitled 'Guardians and Space Knights' and will be airing this Sunday, April 6th, at 8am/7c. The plot of the episode involves Galactus! Check out the synopsis:
When Galactus attacks Earth, Iron Man is able to lead him to another planet but discovers that it is populated and under the protection of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Billy West ("Futurama") guest stars as Rocket Raccoon; Michael Clarke Duncan ("The Green Mile") guest stars as Groot; and John DiMaggio ("Futurama") guest stars as Galactus.

  1. I usually watch this show with my kid, when I wake up early enough. Looking forward to it.

  2. I think the reason theres also a cameo by the Space Knights of Galador its because of their role in Infinity.

  3. Wait... How is Michael Clarke Duncan going to guest star when he died nearly two years ago?

    1. They have probably used necromancy.

    2. He recorded I am Groot for Ultimate Spider-Man. I guess they are just using his previously recorded lines.

    3. Hm. Personally, I'm liking the necromancy theory, myself.

  4. The Spaceknights of Galador. WOW. As a kid, ROM was my absolute FAVORITE comic, and I still love it now. Never thought I'd see animated Spaceknights though...

  6. Sounds cool but I'm sure it will be awful like the rest of the series. It seems that the GotG are in nothing but terrible media these days.

    1. They were in EMH, Marvel Heroes, & Rocket was in UMvC3 (a mainstay in the fighting game community).

    2. Hopefully we get an animated series that will please cosmic fans.

  7. This looks fun. Even if its bad at least its exposure. I did like seeing them in action in EMH and Ultimate SM.

    1. True. I think we have to remember that this show is for kids, so it's not going to be the greatest interpretation of the Guardians.

  8. I will be watching. I enjoyed the Ultimate SM episode, but didn't like that Groot was a twig in a pot who had to be carried around the entire time. Even in the comics, they are over-using his, "growing back" ability which detracts from the fact that he is supposed to be super-durable hard-to-break wood.

  9. I'm going to watch it, but if the Guardians get their own show, I hope they look like their movie counter parts and Rocket looks more like a raccoon. Also, I hope for good writing and stories.

  10. Avengers Assemble is arguably a boring show (especially compared to EMH), but once in a while I watch an episode or two, depending on the guest hero like this one.
I hope the Guardians series will be more interesting and fun to watch, and yes... I agree with the notion, that they should have their movie costumes... even its for the sake of marketing ;)
