Marvel has released a "digital download only"
Guardians of the Galaxy Infinite movie prequel comic by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. Since the comic takes place in the same universe as the movie, we thought it would be interesting to point out anything of somewhat importance that we learned from the comic. It's currently available for download on the
Marvel Comics and
Comixology apps. If you are planning on reading it, you may not want to read anymore, because...
SPOILERS BELOW!
Now, we'll tell you what we learned from the 'Guardians of the Galaxy Infinite Prequel' comic.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY INFINITE PREQUEL
1. The Collector (played by Benicio Del Toro in the movie) has his "lair" on Knowhere. Fans of Volume 2 of the
Guardians of the Galaxy comics should be pleased. This "station" served as The Guardians' headquarters in that series of comics.
2. The pink girl (Aide to The Collector) from the
Thor: The Dark World post credits scene is named Carina. In the 616 Universe, Carina is the name of The Collector's daughter. Whether or not she is his daughter in the movie universe is yet to be seen.
3. Conjunction is a planet that is very similar to Tattooine from the Star Wars films. It's also home to to the "black market for contraband tech". This is where Gamora is before the film.
4. Since the prequel comics take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and "Skrull Detectors" are mentioned, we can deduce that Skrulls DO exist in the MCU. Will we see them in the movies? That I don't know, but technically they do exist now.
5. We still don't know exactly what the orb does, but we
do know where it is. The Collector tells Gamora that the orb is "in the temple vault on Morag." This must be the temple that we saw Starlord enter in the movie trailer.
6. Gamora is working with The Collector, in order to keep the orb away from Ronan The Accuser, who she believes will use it for evil.
7. Lastly, we get a small look at Thanos in the final panel. That's him in the bottom left corner of the image below.
PART TWO WILL BE TOMORROW!
Great read. Will part two be the comic that is released today?
ReplyDeleteYes it will! :)
DeleteThis comic got me pumped for the movie. Honestly, after reading the one released today, I feel kind of sorry for Nebula. Gamora was kind of evil to her.
ReplyDeleteWhen you feel sorry for the villain, that means you have a really good story. I look forward to reading this, and to seeing the film, of course.
DeleteAbout the Skrull thing, we know that Marvel Studios doesn't own the Skrulls, but they can still mention them in the MCU comics. Nice touch.

ReplyDeleteIsn't Yondu, Starlord, Rocket, Groot, Ronan and drax there too.
