Fandango, the largest online movie ticket seller, sent us an e-mail today, telling us how excited they are about this weekend's release of Guardians of the Galaxy. Apparently, the film has scored "94 out of 100 points on the company’s Fanticipation movie buzz indicator." Also, the film is "capturing 93% of this weekend’s ticket sales on Fandango, and outselling previous Marvel franchise debuts, “Thor” and “Captain America,” at the same point in the sales cycle."
What does this mean? Well, it means that Guardians of the Galaxy is on its way to becoming a super-large success for Marvel Studios. In fact, Fandango has never had a bigger pre-seller in the month of August. What attracts Fandango's customers to the film? They took a poll. Here's what the people had to say:
95% are attracted by the film’s off-the-wall humor;
87% plan to attend the movie with a group of friends on opening weekend;
85% are looking forward to seeing Chris Pratt in his breakout role as Peter Quill (“Star-Lord”);
80% are already interested in seeing additional “Guardians” movies;
73% claimed the movie’s retro soundtrack made them more excited to see it;
67% picked Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper) as the otherworldly character they’re most anticipating;
58% were previously unfamiliar with the “Guardians” comic books.
Also, check out two Guardians posters, exclusive to Fandango here, and here. Also, check out an "original series of Nova Corps videos" here.

There is no doubt in my mind that Guardians will do well at the box office. The marketing for the film has been great.
ReplyDeleteI just bought 4 tickets at my Appleton, WI theater for Thursday 7pm. I was surprised to see Marcus Theaters get to show the movie on Thursday. Can't wait!
