Most of us haven't seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy film yet. However, the film's writer and director James Gunn has already been working on the sequel. In an interview with FilmDivider, Gunn talked a little bit about where he wanted to take the Guardians franchise in the second film.
"I know a lot of where I want to go," Gunn said. "I have a lot of
ideas for stories and characters that are going to appear, and there are
documents written up, that some people have, about Peter Quill’s father
and his relationship, a lot of stuff about Yondu and a lot of stuff
about Drax that nobody knows. There are a lot of things that are part of the overall
schematic that already exist, not to mention a lot of stuff about all
of the cultures. There’s a lot of stuff about Xandarian and Kree culture
that I’ve written down or I have in my head, as well as Krylorians and
Ravagers."
Gunn also added, "Kevin Feige has stuff. I wrote up a lot. He knows all the stuff and
if I died tomorrow they could go make a movie. They could write the
story of Peter Quill’s father and it would all be there. I think Yondu
is a very important character, a really important character in this
universe, and I think Nebula is really important too and so I think
we’ll see more of both of those characters."
So it sounds like the sequel will deal mostly with Peter Quill's father (who may or may not be J'son of Spartax in the film), as well as Yondu and Nebula. Could we possibly see a storyline similar to the Bendis run of Guardians, with Peter Quill's father playing an antagonistic role? There's also the possibility that we will see more of the original Guardians (Charlie-27, Starhawk, Martinex) in the sequel, as it sounds like they will delving into Yondu's character a little more.
As for Nebula, most of us have read The Infinity Gauntlet comic, which features Nebula heavily. With the obvious 'Infinity Gauntlet' movie that the MCU is building towards, may we see Nebula in Avengers 3? Only time will tell! Sound off on your thoughts below in the comment section!
Seeing the film tonight, then it's time for Guardians 2. Looking forward to following this site for another 3 years (at least). Keep it up Cam.
ReplyDeleteJust got back from the movie. Brilliant. I loved every minute of it. Perfectly captured the essence of the DnA run while also being a fresh new take.
