Director James Gunn Confirms That Adam Warlock's Cocoon Is In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

By Cameron Logan
When Thor: The Dark World came out last year, fans were treated to a post-credits scene featuring The Collector, a character that would reappear in Guardians of the Galaxy. In that post credits scene, Lady Sif and Volstagg walk past a glass cage which many people believed to be the cocoon of Adam Warlock. No one from Marvel confirmed that this was in fact the cocoon of Adam Warlock, although it was pretty obvious. Now we have a confirmation.

Guardians director James Gunn was recently a guest on Empire Podcast. While talking about hidden easter eggs in The Collector's lair, Gunn said, "There are the slither creatures from my movie Slither behind The Collector, those guys are pretty obvious. You have Adam Warlock's cocoon, you have all sorts of other characters from Marvel movies."

For those who didn't notice, the cocoon reappeared in Guardians (behind Howard The Duck), but this time it was busted open. This means that Adam Warlock exists in the MCU and could possibly make an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. When Gunn was recently asked on Twitter if any other Guardians from the comics would appear in the sequel, he replied, "...can't give it away but there should be at least one more Guardian from the comics."

Thanks to Yahoo Movies for the info! What do you think? Would you like for Adam Warlock to appear in the sequel. Drop a comment below and let us know what you think!

  1. I didn't notice it being busted open! :O I have to look for it next time. Also someone mentioned MAYBE Beta Ray Bill in The Collector's lair? I have to look deeply for that one too.

  2. I sure hope not. Bill deserves better than to appear in a box :/

  3. The new Guardian spoken of could be Cosmo, of course ;-)

  4. Cosmo was never a Guardian, Beta Ray Bill was a fossil in the first scene not in the collectors.. Er...collection. I'm hoping they will add some more classic Guardians pre 2008 characters such as Charlie 27 or Martinex!

    1. Although technically Cosmo wasn't a Guardian, he helped the Guardians enough to be considered an honorary member.

  6. I'm afreid that is supposed to be just an easter egg and we'll never see Warlock in a movie.

  7. Totally thought that girl in Quill's ship at the start was Deathcry, anyone else thing that? Also...on that note my friends are saying Marvel definitely doesn't have Shi'ar rights and I can see where they're coming from, but I say they definitely do. We have no actual confirmation of which studio has them right?
