Lots of Guardians of the Galaxy Casting News!

In the past week, we've had a few exciting casting announcements:

Benicio Del Toro has signed a multiple movie contract, starting with Guardians of the Galaxy. Although his role is unknown, many websites have been speculating that Mr. Del Toro will be, in fact, playing Thanos. Personally, I think he would do a great job as Thanos. Del Toro has a certain intensity that he gives to each of his performances that would translate well into the "Mad Titan." This would also explain the multi-film contract that Del Toro has supposedly signed.

Karen Gilian, of Doctor Who fame, has signed on as the film's lead female villian. Ms. Gilian was a fan favorite in Doctor Who and will undoubtedly bring in a lot of that fanbase. This will be her biggest role to date. I am unsure of who she is playing, but if I had to bet money on it, I'd say that she will be a member of the Kree empire, since Ronan The Accuser will supposedly be a factor in the story. I could also see her playing some sort of villian/love-interest for Peter Quill (Star-Lord).
Lastly, Lloyd Kaufman, former James Gunn collaborator and Troma director, is said to have a cameo in the film. Kaufman has directed many movies, including The Toxic Avenger and Tromeo and Juliet. He is known for his cult movie status.

With all these new casting updates, Guardians of the Galaxy has been making the rounds on movie blogs and news sites. This is shaping up to be a great cast. These three actors join Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, Michael Rooker, Lee Pace, and Ophelia Lovibond in an extrodinary cast. With this cast, the script must be pretty darn good.

  1. I've heard rumors of Jim Carey and Adam Sandler as Rocket.... we need to make sure this DOES NOT HAPPEN!

I'm stoked thus far! Chris Pratt is an all time favorite of mine, and I really cannot wait to see him suit up. (not like.. ya know... the nude way...) I'm a little skeptical about Bautista. He's never acted outside of wrestling, but I suppose wrestling is acting in itself!

    1. I agree. I'm not a fan of Jim Carrey, and I don't think either one would be good for Rocket. Maybe Groot, since he doesn't say much. Bautista at least seems to be excited about the role, which could be a good thing.
