MTV recently got a chance to talk to Karen Gillan (Nebula) at SXSW. In the interview, she talked a little bit about her role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film. Check out some of the quotes below...
- "I just think it's a new direction for Marvel, it's really, really funny. It's not taking itself seriously at all. It's tongue in cheek. And just to see people be excited about that new tone is cool."
- "Nebula does not find herself funny. I find her hilarious. But she can't find herself hilarious, that's not scary."
- Talking about a fight scene between her character Nebula and Zoe Saldana's character Gamora, Gillan said, "There's a big girlie fight sequence, but it's not that girlie. They made sure there weren't any nice pirouettes or anything like that. She's [Saldana] really experienced in the physical stuff, she was a ballerina. She's really amazing at all of that stuff. She barely required any rehearsal, she was like, 'I can do this.' I required two months of rehearsals every day that I wasn't shooting, because I looked like spaghetti when I started."

- Speaking more about the fight scene, Gillan added "This is the integral one for my character, because it's not just a physical battle. Their relationship goes very deep, and there's a huge history between them. So there's a lot more to it than just the physical."
Head on over to MTV to check out the full interview. Drop us a comment below and let us know how you think Karen Gillan will do as Nebula?
I bet nobody on this website loves Karen Gillan more than I do. If there is anybody, I am willing to fight you for her (even though we both probably don't stand a chance).
ReplyDeleteI know a few guys who would give you a run for your money. lol
DeleteYeah, dude. I think the world of Cam, but I suspect he and I would gleefully have a gladiator-style fight to the death for one evening with Karen. Heh.
DeleteYou better believe it! lol
DeleteFirst off, I'll be in that round-robin tourney of fighting for her honor.
DeleteSecond, I'll be seeing her at the end of the month (she'll be in town for a convention!)
Third, I think, villain-wise, she'll steal the show, much like Tom Hiddleston stole the show in the Thor movies.
Her hair looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteGod, the pixie-cut looks gorgeous on her. Also, does she make anyone else think of Rahne from New Mutants right now?
ReplyDeleteI can definitely see that. Also, back off bro, I seen her first.
DeleteBut! But! But!
DeleteWhat I like about this is the ending. "Huge history between them" which makes me go HMM. So I do wonder how far they're gonna go with these two.
