NOTE: The winner of this giveaway has already been announced. Congratulations to boilerup09!
In light of the news that the Nova Corps will be featuring prominently in the Guardians of the Galaxy film, we have decided to make this week "Nova Week."
We will be giving away a copy of Nova #5, which will be released next Wednesday, as well as a surprise bonus item! All you have to do is drop a comment telling us who you think should play Richard Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and why. Make sure to include your e-mail address in your comment so that we may contact you. Winner to be announced this Friday. Good luck!
I'd be okay with Lee Pace playing Nova. He was great in Pushing Daisies and has a certain Richard Rider quality about him.

He just might be playing Rider.
DeleteI read somewhere that Scott Porter from friday night lights wished to play him. Marvel should give him the job.

I liked him on FNL. Thanks for the comment.
DeleteI would enjoy seeing Garrett Hedlund get the role. I thought he was awesome in Tron and think he has a young grittyness to him that would fit Rider Nova. I read somewhere else online that his age would also allow the character to properly develop into a mature Rider were Marvel ever to feature him in other films or somehow make a Nova movie, and I liked that idea. Plus, I can see Hedlund having good chemistry alongside of Chris Pratt for that sweet Nova/Star-Lord bromance.

I really really like this idea and I hadn't thought about it before. He would have good chemistry with Chris Pratt. You are definitely right about that.
DeleteTough question. Maybe Chris Pine? I think he was pretty impressive in the Star Trek films and I would assume that whoever was playing Rider would have to be enough of a big name to eventually carry a standalone Nova film.
ReplyDeleteYea, Chris Pine is great in Star Trek. I wouldn't mind him in the role.
DeleteBy face structure, I can see Casey Affleck having that look. I just wish he had more action movie experience.

Nice suggestion. He might be able to pull it off. Thanks for the comment.
DeleteHope I'm not too late for this but I'm going to put my vote in for Darren Criss. Now, before you think "Oh hell no, not some guy from Glee", stop and think about him as an actor. He's proven himself to be one of the best actors on that show who is able to do heart-breaking emotional scenes as well as the funny light-hearted ones. Not only that but he looks the part. His facial structure and physique match that of a stereotypical superhero; strong jawline and powerful eyes. Plus with the "comedy" vibe that Marvel seems to be going with now I think he would be great.
ReplyDeleteEdit: sorry my email is rossm96@gmail.com
DeleteYou're not too late. We will be announcing the winner this Friday, 6/21. Good pick! Thanks for the comment.
DeleteWhat about Ryan Gosling? He's got that strong square jawed look of Nova and has shown the ability to be a versatile actor (great in "The Ides of March"). Not necessarily a conventional pick but I think he's got the chops to pull it off. Not an easy question to answer, but there have been some really good suggestions so far.

Gosling would do a great job. He's been great in everything I've seen him in, especially Drive. He could pull off the hero really well. I just don't know if he would play a comic book character. Thanks for the comment!
