GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY To Introduce PLANET HULK?

Over the past few months, I've noticed a couple extras from Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy have listed their roles in the upcoming film as "Sakaaran". To be perfectly honest, I had no idea what a Sakaraan was before doing some research. Apparently, Sakaarans come from the planet Sakaar (no surprise there), which Hulk crashed on after being banished from Earth in Planet Hulk. Sakaarans also have a "red-skinned" appearance, bearing a striking resemblance to one of the extras we saw in certain set photos from the Millennium Bridge last year.

Whether or not Guardians of the Galaxy will introduce the planet Sakaar is yet to be seen. If it is introduced, however, should we expect Marvel Studios to announce a Planet Hulk movie for Phase 3? Only time will tell. Until then, check out these awesome cameos of Star-Lord and Gamora, from the 2010 Planet Hulk animated film (available now on Netflix Instant).

  3. I think you're reading too much into it. Some of the concept art for the Marauders in Thor: The Dark World depicted Sakaraans as being among their ranks, so GOTG won't be the first time Marvel intended to introduce the race. What's more, Planet Hulk has been rumoured since 2012, and Whedon and Feige have both said multiple times that Planet Hulk won't be happening as they're more interested in adapting stories focused on Bruce Banner and taking full advantage of Ruffalo's acting range, whereas Planet Hulk is more or less all Hulk. Feige did say that he'd love to do it, but that it won't be happening anytime soon if at all. I think Sakaraans being featured in Guardians Of The Galaxy is just Marvel wanting to further diversify the range of alien races appearing in the movie to give an added sense of scale to the cosmos while also giving a nod to the fans. That's just my two cents on the matter.

  7. MArvel said they don't plan to do a Planet Hulk because Mark Ruffalo wouldn't be in it. He needs to be in movies, not just Hulk
